2020 may be forever remembered as the year the world shut down. The pace at which the COVID-19 pandemic spread throughout the world was unprecedented. In a matter of weeks, the virus brought global travel almost to a complete halt, shut down restaurants and hotels, closed schools, forced cancellations of major conferences, sporting events, concerts, and triggered “stay at home” orders for non-essential workers in most countries.
The good news is that two months of social distancing, self-quarantines, and wearing of masks has slowed the spread of the virus and the slow re-opening of businesses and economies has begun in many countries. There are positive signals from research into possible treatments and vaccines that will limit the future impact of the virus. While proceeding with caution, the public and businesses around the world are taking steps to “get back to business.”
Getting Back to Business Then
GET BACK TO BUSINESS has been the OneStream Software tag line for 10 years now. The original intent of the tag line was to communicate to prospective customers the value of OneStream’s unified platform approach to corporate performance management (CPM). The idea is that a unified platform frees finance and IT staff from many of the laborious tasks they are often forced to perform when using multiple legacy applications for financial close and consolidation, reporting, planning, forecasting, modeling and analytics so that they can focus more on driving business performance.
In essence, we help finance teams transform from back-office tacticians to strategic business partners. Getting back to business has certainly resonated with CFOs and finance teams and, as a result, more than 500 customers now leverage the OneStream XF platform and XF MarketPlace solutions to get back to business!
Getting Back to Business Now
Fast-forward to today, and “get back to business” is becoming a global mantra. Now it’s about re-opening stores and restaurants, cranking up production lines, getting staff back on the payroll, and meeting customer demand – all while keeping everyone safe.
Over the past several months of working from home, we at OneStream have been checking in with our customers to see how they are doing during this challenging time. We heard countless stories of how our unified platform, whether running in the cloud or on-premise, enabled them to keep their finance processes and business running in spite of the lockdown.
OneStream’s platform has enabled customers to effectively collect and consolidate financial results, reconcile accounts, close the books, report the results, and complete year-end audits. But more importantly, it has helped finance teams gain better visibility into the impact of the disruption to their business. It has helped them execute rapid forecasting and scenario modeling and identify trends and financial signals from daily financial and operational data. It has enabled them quickly adapt to the need to more closely and more frequently monitor and forecast cash flow, and better manage working capital during this critical time.
And now as economies begin the process of restarting, and customers are turning their sights to how their organizations will “get back to business”, our platform is enabling them to forecast and plan when, how and where they will allocate resources to meet increasing customer demand for their products and services. Over the coming months finance teams will have a major impact on how effectively their organizations “get back to business” and from what we are hearing from our customers, they are stepping up to the challenge.
